Parents make mistakes. At times, our mistakes hurt our 10to20s’ feelings or get in the way of our relationship with them. And sometimes, it’s only in retrospect that we realize that we’ve hurt or upset our teen.
Has your 10to20 become unusually reserved? If your otherwise chatty teenager has clammed up it might be time to consider whether you did or said something that cut previously open lines of communication or undermined some of your hard-earned trust. If you know what went wrong, go ahead and apologize.
